Who? We are an open, loosely organized volunteer group of individuals from the App.net (ADN) community. Our vision is to sustain and grow App.net via technological, marketing and community efforts.
Why? We share the ideals which App.net was founded upon, such as being advertising free, guaranteeing data ownership and aligning interests between users, third party developers and the platform itself.
We also love the service for the people and conversations in the community as well as, for the developers among us, being able to develop against a great social API, and we believe that App.net is worth preserving not only for us because the web at large will be a better place if services like this exist and thrive.
When the founders of App.net published the State of the Union post they assured us that App.net will continue to run in its current form indefinitely, but due to staff layoffs it is unlikely that we will see much investment in new features or marketing. This is where we want to step in as volunteers.
How? We want to actively listen to, and communicate with this community and we want to grow the network/community and attract new members and enthusiasts. Everyone is welcome to chime in our Patter chat room or on our Trello boards.
